FTA’s Hackathon Drives Innovation in Tax Services Across the UAE

Innovating Tax Solutions: FTA’s Hackathon Sparks Technological Revolution in Tax Services

In a groundbreaking event that aligns with UAE Innovation Month, the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) hosted a dynamic Hackathon at the Dubai Youth Hub, located within the iconic Emirates Towers. This event, a collaboration with SAP, a leader in technology and applications, brought together a diverse group of thinkers and innovators.

A Convergence of Innovation and Expertise

The Hackathon served as a platform for the FTA to display innovative projects and technological advancements designed to tackle the tax sector’s challenges. The event underscored the importance of fostering collaborative relationships among government bodies, private sector entities, and educational institutions.

Unleashing Creative Potential

The FTA’s call to action was met with an enthusiastic response, receiving 15 project submissions that aimed to elevate tax awareness, streamline tax-related procedures, assist SMEs with tax filings, and address tax evasion. The participants, a mix of developers, programmers, students, entrepreneurs, business owners, and government officials, brought a wealth of knowledge and fresh ideas to the table.

A Commitment to Digital Excellence

H.E. Khalid Ali Al Bustani, the Director General of the FTA, reiterated the organization’s commitment to integrating innovative projects and initiatives that harness the power of technology. These efforts are crucial for enhancing the tax service ecosystem, proactively addressing sector challenges, and building strong partnerships across various sectors.

“The Hackathon, a key event of UAE Innovation Month, has been instrumental in bringing to light the creativity of innovators from diverse backgrounds and integrating their ideas into our digital transformation journey,” H.E. Al Bustani stated. “Our goal is to provide top-tier, efficient tax solutions that meet global standards of excellence.”

Recognizing and Fostering Innovation

The FTA is set to review the submitted projects to identify the top three innovative solutions. The evaluation will consider creativity, innovation, data utilization, solution quality, usability, design, technological implementation, and the potential impact and feasibility of each project. The FTA is also open to exploring partnerships with the creators of the winning ideas to further develop and expand upon their concepts.

In Conclusion

The FTA’s Hackathon is a testament to the UAE’s commitment to fostering innovation within the tax sector. By embracing the talents of a diverse group of individuals and the latest technological advancements, the FTA is paving the way for a more efficient, transparent, and user-friendly tax system.
